Nigeria: Listen to CKay’s Wahala ft. Olamide
Nigerian singer CKay has shared his new single ‘Wahala’, featuring rapper Olamide. The track is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
According to CKay, a self-styled ‘emo Afrobeat’ musician and producer, the song, boasting a Spanish guitar melody by Moonesawmy Devadasen, relates to “problematic sexiness.”
This is CKay’s second release with Olamide in two years, after 2023’s ‘Trumpet’. About collaborating with the rapper again, CKay said: “Olamide and I complimented each other really well on the record. I think it’s beautiful.”
CKay’s 2024 kicked off with the release of a single pack comprising ‘Is It You’ and ‘Mysterious Love’. Co-produced by CKay and Reward Beatz, the tracks have already enjoyed significant commercial success, amassing nearly 7 million streams.
Born Chukwuka Ekweani, CKay is best known for the viral hit ‘Love Nwantiti (ah ah ah)’, originally released back in 2019 as part of his debut EP CKay the First. The track has been certified platinum and multiplatinum in five countries, including the US, India and Italy. It went gold in the UK, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
In 2021, CKay became the most streamed African artist of the year and had two simultaneous tracks on the Global Spotify Top 30. The musician has continued to create a global presence with accomplishments such as the “most shazamed song in the world.” His debut album Sad Romance, released in September 2022 on Warner Music South Africa, has garnered more than 433 million streams worldwide.
A video for ‘Wahala’ is expected to be released in the coming days.
