SA: Durban next in line for Cassper Nyovest Fill Up series
South African rapper Cassper ‘Abuti Fill Up’ Nyovest has officially announced that he is keen to take his famous Fill Up series to Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 1 December 2018.
The news was announced in a video skit in which the rapper gives details about who will be featured in the show.
This will be the first time the annual Fill Up event takes place outside Johannesburg. In 2015, Nyovest filled the 20 000-capacity TicketPro Dome and year later Orlando Stadium in Soweto. He then took a leap and attempted to fill up FNB stadium – the biggest in South Africa with a seating capacity of more than 94 000. Only 75 00 tickets were available for Fill Up FNB Stadium of which 68 000 were sold.
"She’s so gorgeous," Nyovest said about Moses Mabhida Stadium, which has a capacity of about 62 000 and is known for its 350m arch that stretches above the pitch. The stadium was constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
“Durban people do not play with groove. They mean serious business!!! Ai!!! #FillUpMosesMabhida is gonna be on fire!” the rapper tweeted.
Replying to a fan who said he had never been to a Fill Up show, Cassper Nyovest said: “Best show you’ll ever go to. It gets LIT . Smaller venue this year the energy is gonna be x 4! Packed and loud! We gonna rave! I’m stage diving this year!
Fans took to social media to celebrate the announcement.
“Thank you so much for telling us the date. I have enough time to save enough money for a VIP TICKET and to buy something to wear. I ain't going to worry about transport. UBER is R40 from my house to Moses Mabhida,” one Twitter user said.
Another said: “Durban peeps please welcome us Joburgers with warm hands when we infiltrate KZN [KwaZulu-Natal province] for #FillUpMosesMabhida.”
Cassper Nyovest was recently nominated for a BET Award in the Best International Act Category.
