Nigeria: Boomplay partners with Industry Nite to support emerging artists
Africa-facing music streaming and download platform Boomplay has announced a partnership with Nigeria-based concert series Industry Nite to spotlight undiscovered local artists.
Industry Nite claims to be the West African country’s “foremost talent community and platform for upcoming and established creatives looking to connect with other talents in the industry while creating an unforgettable experience for the public.”
Over the years, the event has hosted leading Nigerian acts including Davido, MI Abaga, Wizkid and Simi, among others. The July edition of Industry Nite featured new voices like Debhie, Abike Ilu, Loye, Wonder H and Dave the Oracle.
Boomplay states that the partnership aligns with its vision to promote fresh talent. It involves offering free music promotion on the streaming platform to the top artists from #IndustryNite each month.
“At Boomplay, one of our major commitments is ensuring that young talents have the opportunity to showcase their work,” Boomplay said, adding that the deal is a “testament to our dedication to fostering the growth of new artists and providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the competitive music industry.”
To participate, artists based in Lagos looking to perform at the Industry Nite concert series may reach out via DM on Instagram (@BoomplayNigeria).
Earlier this month, Boomplay joined forces with South Korea’s YG Plus to bring YG Plus’ catalogue of global K-Pop stars to an African audience of over 70 million subscribers on Boomplay.
“Boomplay is welcoming labels, aggregators and distributors from all over the world to the African market as well as increasing the awareness of African music globally,” Boomplay said of the deal. “Our extensive market-leading reach in the African terrain provides an opportunity for catalogues to be monetised and exposed to the fastest-growing music streaming market in the world.
“We believe that this collaboration will not only benefit these labels or distributors but also contribute to the growth of the music industry in Africa. We look forward to a successful partnership with YG Plus that will bring their catalogue to new listeners and help connect their artists with music lovers and fans in the African region.”
