Xixel Langa

Xixel Langa is a renowned singer and performer hailing from Maputo, Mozambique.

She captivates audiences with her exceptional talent and vibrant stage presence. Since her early childhood, she has been showcasing her remarkable abilities in various palaces and performed for multiple audiences all over the world including Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, South Africa and Taiwan. Renowned for her musical versatility, Xixel Langa effortlessly blends various rhythms and styles, creating unforgettable musical experiences for her fans.

Her journey began with gymnastics, which she started learning at a young age. In 1994, influenced by her family, Langa enrolled at the National Dance School in Maputo, where she honed her skills in traditional dance and singing. It’s when she turned 19, that her solo career effectively began, having won awards for Best New Talent in 2004 and Best Voice in 2005.

Throughout her music journey she had the privilege of collaborating with multiple renowned afro-jazz names including Gito Baloi, Ghorwane, Frank Paco, Jimmy Dludlu, Nelson Malela and Ladji Kante. She has also had the privilege of dancing for esteemed groups such as Timbila Muzimba, Kapa Dech, and Mighty Vibration, exploring diverse musical genres with an irreverent touch, including reggae, which she seamlessly incorporates into her performances.

Not less important is Xixel’s notable involvement with activism, social behavioral change for several causes from gender based violence to HIV/AIDS prevention. In 2014 she was an ambassador of a Campaign "Fight against Violence to Women and Girls" and to John Hopkins Campaign “Dating several women is too risky”. Xixel is also involved in education causes, having provided singing technical support to the Cross Roads Academy of Music, worked as Soprano singer and soloist in the Classical Music Project Xiquitsi, as Production Mentor and Monitor of the emerging musicians project at X-Hub Incubadora Artística and most lately as a advocacy ambassador for ArtinDev, a project supported by Music In Africa Foundation in 2022 to advocate for the rights and duties of music artists in Mozambique.
