Sema Sole

Bio

Sema Solé is a recording artist born and raised in Rwanda. He released music from 2015 under the stage name DK-47, before being reborn in 2020 as Sema Solé. His post-2020 singles are exclusively voiced in Kinyarwanda, Rwanda’s native language, and produced with a melodic flavour distinct from the mainstream East African Hip Hop sound. His debut EP “Bururu” (2021) gained considerable recognition when the lead single Kama amassed over 1 million streams on Spotify, following a viral TikTok campaign. His first full-length album, “Kubayenga” (2024), was meticulously-produced over 2 years, showcasing an even more sophisticated level of introspective wordplay and musical sensibility. He is a member of Mellow Couch, a growing music collective with a common vision: to explore sound without limits and bring a fresh originality to the African music scene. The collective currently consists of long-time collaborators and friends Manzi Fleur (recording artist), Reddy (producer & engineer), Sema Solé and new member Mwiza (recording artist).
