Robin Thirdfloor is an alternative hip hop artist from Durban, South Africa.
Robin Thirdfloor began his career with the release of his EP Sounds Empty Pockets Make. The EP received more than 2000 downlaods in less than a month
His hit single 'Confessions' was playlisted on multiple radio stations including the Gagasi FM Top 5 and uKhozi FM Top 5 Hip-hop charts. Robin Thirdfloor's single Fly Away was playlisted on a college radio station in Chicago (USA). Both tracks, Confessions and Fly Away, were featured on SABC 1 drama series Mutual Friends.
Robin Thirdfloor was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Newcomer, MC of the Year, Best Sleeve Design, and EP of the Year at the Original Material Awards 2014.
In 2015 Tshepang Ramoba – drummer of BLK JKS and Motel Mari, producer and remixer – signed Robin to his indie label POST POST. Following his major Johannesburg debut at The Lyric Theatre on the IMEXSA SA Indies Music Week showcase in December 2015, Robin presented Rolling Stone, which debuted on trend-setter portal Okay Africa in February 2016. A few days later, the POST POST stable embarked on a tour that took Robin Thirdfloor to Mozambique and Swaziland.
Robin closed after ProVerb the Main Stage of 2016's Back To The City Festival – South Africa's biggest hip-hop gathering.
Robin Thirdfloor brought his sound to new levels in March 2017 with 'Somdanger', a neo-kwaito club banger paying tribute to the Durban nightlife with a video shot in his hometown Umlazi. This led him to be one of the few South African artists to be selected for the official showcase of SWSX 2017 (Austin-Texas, USA).
Robin Thirdfloor´s radio playlists include most major South African radio stations – Gagasi FM, Ukhozi FM, Yfm, UJ FM, Radio DUT, Inanda FM, VoW FM and Goodhope FM, as well as Underground College radio (USA). TV placements include SABC 1 (Mutual Friends), SABC 3 (Trending SA), Mzansi Magic (It´s Complicated - Seasons 1 & 2). His music collaborations include Dj Tira, Mzokoloko, Youngsta, Ginger Trill, HCL, Moonchild, or Black Moss (Korea). In late 2017 Robin released his new EP titled Bhhotela as a Deezer exclusive and debuted at number 23 on the top 25 streamed albums in South Africa. In May 2018 he launched the video Ethikwini, celebrating the city and its uniqueness by taking you on a day in the life of a “Durban Superstar”.
