Kenya: Beneath The Baobabs Festival reveals artist line-up
The Beneath The Baobabs Festival 2024/25 has revealed its first 30 acts for the New Year of two days and nights, across five stages in the Baobab Forest of Kilifi, Kenya.
Now well established as Kenya’s most diverse celebration of the New Year, the Beneath The Baobabs Festival 2024/25 marks an incredible 10 years of New Year festivals in Kilifi, Kenya, providing a platform for contemporary Kenyan music, art, and dance while celebrating one of the most beautiful regions of Kenya.
Beneath the Baobabs Festival has become one of East Africa's most anticipated New Year’s music and arts extravaganzas. It has now grown to be one of Kenya’s top international events, showcasing the best in contemporary dance music and performances. This year, the festival invites some very special headliners from East and South Africa, with a special focus on Mijikenda and Swahili bands, MCs, DJs, and performers to lead the charge. The Beneath The Baobabs Festival line-up consistently unites respected names of the Kenyan electronic music scene, exciting emerging acts shifting the landscape in East Africa and globally, as well as a carefully curated selection of international acts keen to experience the magic of Kilifi.
International headliners include SA amapiano legend Vigro Deep, the godfather of Kenyan alternative music Blinky Bill, who will cross us into the New Year, followed by the amazing Kampire from Uganda. On opening night, we are honoured to host South African superstar Desiree for a MMINO takeover, whilst crossing us into the New Year on an Afro-house tip will be the effervescent Emmanuel Jal of South Sudan, performing with live dancers and musicians.
Beneath The Baobabs Festival is best known for its work in developing the Kenyan music scene, offering a platform for new and established acts and sounds to represent the hard work done in the clubs and on tour. With sounds ranging from amapiano to Afro-house, house to techno, global bass to hip hop, arbantone, and Afrobeats, the festival caters for all partygoers, ensuring there is a sound for everyone to immerse themselves in.
Set on 50 acres of pristine Enchanted Baobab Forest, upstream from the Takaungu Creek and 5km from the Indian Ocean, Beneath The Baobabs Festival is the perfect tropical setting offering an immersive experience of contemporary and traditional Kenyan culture. All five of the festival's stages are built into the forest setting, supported by top quality Sound, lighting, ground performers, art Installations and decor, each playing a crucial role in assisting the audience towards a truly transformative experience.
