Call for applications: Art-ivist in Residency Tanzania
The MS Training Centre for Development and Cooperation (MS TCDC) in Arusha, Tanzania, is calling on artists from all disciplines to apply for its 2019 Art-ivist in Residency (AiR) programme.
- Tanzania's Vitali Maembe took part in the AiR programme last year.
This year's residency programme is themed Refugees, Returnee and IDPs and will run from 29 April to 30 May.
The residency seeks to bring together activists who use art as a medium of change to raise awareness or advocate for social and human rights justice at the grassroots level. Artists are expected to spend time with each other while addressing a common agenda, which celebrates the power and role of art in movement building and grassroots mobilisation.
The residency also serves as a masterclass for artists to acquire more knowledge or content through audiovisual material. In support of the artists’ ongoing work, the residency provides a platform for conscious art to be showcased and published on mainstream media.
The application deadline is 30 March and interested artists can access the online application form here.
The following areas will be covered during the residency:
- Introduction to content sharing.
- Film screening and book reading.
- Ideation and conceptualisation.
- Visiting professionals/anchors.
- Implementation/production.
