Bio
Brave Blakseed Mnyayi is a Malawian artist who wears too many hats; he is a singer, actor, dancer, drummer and a language trainer. The famed artist, who grew up in a music family, is the last Born in a family of nine. Blakseed took part in ragga competitions in the late 90s and this saw him going into serious music in early 2000 when he released his debut single ‘Linda madzi apite’ together with cousin Pappa. The single enjoyed huge airplay and topped Malawian radio charts for years.
In 2003, Blakseed formed Nyasa Guruz together with cousins and brothers namely Blakjack, Jinke, Badde, Pappa, Liko Bwai and Onniwa. Blakseed, who was by that time a boy, took Malawian urban scene by storm with his debut single ‘Tumpale’, a musical piece that topped the county’s radio charts, Television and Africa BBC charts.
Nyasa Guruz went on to release three albums and was signed by London Music Company Faada Music Records with hits like ‘Suzie’, ‘Nthawi, Suyamika’ featuring Malawi's top DJ Kenny Klips. The talented artist is now based in Edinburgh UK, where he is continuing his music and acting career. His solo singles in the UK include ‘Want your Number’ which is in Edinburgh charts top 5, ‘What's love’, ‘Super gal’ and ‘The Love Song’. The artists has rubbed shoulders with well-known artists such as Brick n Lace, Malaika, Lucius Banda, Black Missionaries, Bricks, Denim, The Third and many more. He has also appeared in movies and series like The Test.
