Call for auditions: Beauty and the Beast in Cape Town
The Playhouse Company is calling on performers who can sing, act and dance to audition for the Beauty and the Beast musical in Cape Town, South Africa, on 26 May.
Loaded with romance, enchantment and magic, the musical will be run at the Playhouse Opera theatre in Durban from 20 November to 29 December.
The roles require versatile performers. Interested auditionees are encouraged to dress accordingly.
Requirements
- A song from Beauty and the Beast would be preferable for the vocal audition, but a suitable number from any Broadway musical would suffice.
- Those auditioning will need to provide relevant sheet music for the pianist should they choose to audition with a song other than from Beauty and the Beast.
- Those auditioning should take along a CV and a head and shoulder photograph of themselves.
- Bookings for auditions are essential, no walk-ins will be permitted.
Artists who wish to audition for the Beauty and the Beast musical should call Kipi Skweyiya at 031 369 9463 during office hours (9am to 1pm) until 23 May.
Featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and writing by Linda Woolverton, the production will be directed by the award-winning Ralph Lawson, whose many credits include directing such Playhouse Company successes as West Side Story and My Fair Lady. Choreography will be by Adele Blank.
