Apple Music features Ghana's King Promise in July
Ghanian artist King Promise is this month's featured musician on Apple Music's Artist Spotlight platform.
The announcement coincides with the release of King Promise’s 15-track album As Promised. The album is available on Apple Music and features such songs as ‘Bra’, ‘Odo’, ‘Commando’, ‘Letter’, ‘Abena’ and ‘I Tried’. The offering also features big-name guests like Sarkodie, Wizkid, Simi and Raye.
“I am so happy to be chosen as Apple Music’s Artist Spotlight for the month of July as I’ve been a big fan of the streaming platform and brand as a whole for years now,” King Promise said.
“As Promised is an album I hold close to my heart, as it’s my debut, and what a way to celebrate this than to be highlighted as a new artist on the rise by such an iconic brand.”
King Promise was raised in a musical family and draws inspiration from his father. His influences are hip hop, R&B and Afrobeats. He is signed to Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa label and has already tasted success with previous releases such as ‘So Special’, ‘No Problem’ and ‘Thank God’.
King Promise has performed in Europe and the US, with sold out shows in New York, Ohio and Philadelphia. He won the Record of the Year Award for 'Too Late' at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and the Songwriter of the Year Award in 2019.
