Call for applications: KECOBO legal counsellor
The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) is looking for a legal counsellor.

KECOBO is a state body that was established under Section 3 of the Copyright Act of 2001 and mandated with the administration and enforcement of copyright and related rights in Kenya.
The copyright industries in Kenya contribute significantly to the economic development of the country and need to be nurtured and facilitated. KECOBO provides a focal point for the industry as well and the government in matters of copyright and related rights.
The application deadline is 26 August.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be tasked with the following duties:
- Litigate on copyright matters.
- Prepare legal briefs and court proceedings.
- Give legal advice on copyright matters.
- Vet and verify copyright works for registration.
- Handle contracts and legal agreements.
- Draft legal correspondence.
- Undertake legal research.
- Carry out training and advocacy on copyright and related rights.
Requirements
The applicant must:
- Possess a law degree from a recognised institution.
- Possess postgraduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
- Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
- Have a reliable understanding of intellectual property law.
The applicant should submit the following documents:
- Cover letter.
- A CV with two references.

- Copies of relevant certificates/testimonials.
Remuneration
The successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of 120 000 Kenyan shillings ($1150)
