Blackface
Bio
A member of defunct pioneer pop band Plantashun Boiz, Blackface is a Nigerian singer. Born Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, he met Innocent Idibia (the singer 2face) schooling at a tertiary institution in the eastern part of Nigeria. Soon the third member of the group, Faze, joined. As Plantashun Boiz, the trio released ‘Body and Soul’ to Nigerian pop history. He was considered the main songwriter of the group.
The group broke up, with every member going solo. Blackface’s co-written song ‘African Queen’ became a huge hit for 2face in 2004, complicating an already fraught relationship. Blackface’s debut solo album ‘Ghetto Child’ was released to average success. ‘Evergreen’ followed, as did ‘Jungle Fever’, ‘Me, Musiq and I,’ and ‘Dancehall Business,’ all to marginal commercial success.
A dominantly reggae singer, Blackface has released a few compilations of his music and collaborated with Maine Eazz in 2013. An album ‘Defender’ is expected late in 2015. To promote it he has released the song 'Ikebe Super'.
