Bio
Freddy Arendse Jazz Ensemble is an Afro band from South Africa.
I am the co-founder with my wife of the Tshwane School of Music, an accredited music education institution in the township of Eersterust, Pretoria, South Africa. Our focus is Jazz and contemporary music for ages 8-18 years. We have also established the first township based BMUS in Jazz music education course in Africa in partnership with the University of Pretoria. Our school has hosted Jonathan Butler, Bob James, Larry Carlton, etc. We are also launching Justin Lee Schultz, the 14 year old Jazz prodigy from South Africa, now taking the USA Jazz world by storm as our ambassador. We also own the South African Creative Industries Incubator (SACII) operating from the same township in Eersterust. SACII focusses on Film & Video Production, Animation, Digital Illustration, Gaming, Graphic Design, Photography, Sound Production, Contemporary MusicUniversity of Pretoria certified course in Entrepreneurship for Creatives. SACII also provides Business Incubation support, industry access and mentoring, market access, facilities and equipment for creative content production. Our philosophy for both the Tshwane School Of Music (TSOM) and the South African Creative Industries Incubator (SACII) is #NormalizingAccess to township creatives. Both Beth and I hold BMUS Hons degrees in Music communication from the University of Pretoria. I am a practicing Jazz guitarist and have toured with jazz ensembles both locally and internationally.
