The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition is THE “springboard” for a career in opera. Qualifying rounds are held in 55 cities world-wide.
Founded in 1982, the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition is one of the world’s best networked singing competition with qualifying rounds in more than 55 cities world-wide each year. The singers continue to be judged by a jury consisting of artistic and casting directors from the world's most prestigious opera houses including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Osterfestspiele Salzburg, Metropolitan Opera New York, Cape Town Opera, to name a few. The jury members of the final rounds award additional engagements to the participants.
The Belvedere Singing Competition is represented in South Africa since 2009 with Qualifying Rounds each year.

The competition 2015 will start with its qualifying rounds worldwide from January. The Final Rounds will start End of June in Amsterdam. The Finals Concert will be held on 4th July 2015 at Het Muziektheater Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In 2016 the Final Rounds of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition will take place for the first time in the Competition’s history outside of Europe: 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. Qualifying Rounds worldwide from Januar 2016. Final Rounds from early July 2016 at the South African College of Music - University of Cape Town.
