Bio
Lungelo @ The Organ Project is a musician from South Africa.
He studied music since high school, doing Unisa Music grades and then furthered my studies at The University of KwaZulu Natal where I studied for 4 years and obtained a BPracMus (Hons). During my studies I got my break into the music scene professionally where I got the work with the likes os Sibongile Khumalo, Judith Sephuma, Brian Themba, Tshepo Mngoma, Swazi Dlamini, Sibongile Mngoma, Joyous Celebration, Dr Tumi just to name a few. I also have played at the Metro Awards 3 years consecutively as well as the SAMA Awards the same way. Travelled abroad to various countries like Richmond, Virginia (USA), London, Netherlands, Denmark and more just to name a few. I entered the 5th Unisa National Piano Competition where I managed to take second place. I also was part of the 2012 Standard Bank National Youth JazzBand.
With all my piano training and experience I grew the love of playing the organ. It was mainly from the influence of Cory Henry and Joey Defrenchesco. I kept learning the organ and grew on the talent until I became one of the few gigging and recording organ players. I recorded in many gospel albums like Joyous Celebration 17 - 20, recorded On Ntokozo Mbambo, Dr Tumi, Colleen Maluleke, Tebello Sukwene and many more albums just to name a few.
From there I decided to form my own band called Lungelo & The Organ Project. Two songs are available for streaming and download on all digital platforms and the band has played at various venues around Johannesburg.
