Makondeko Group Band - Vovene

Makondeko group Band was established in 1994, at Luguruni area, Kibamba ward in Tanzania Dar Es Salaam by the late founder Dr. Alex Khalid Mtavala (Former Member of Parliament (MP) and an ambassador in Seychelles), with six musicians.under Makondeko Holdings business and cultural center.

Now Makondeko Group Band - Vovene operates as a project music band with team of professionals in music industry. While main objective is to join its hand in the struggle efforts of our good government towards the Tanzanians’ poverty elimination through providing education and sensitization economically, socially and politically, by using properly composed and trained songs, music and traditional dances. On the other hand, MAKONDEKO GROUP BAND is providing entertainment to the society in different occasions like the National festivals, business organized events and other many occasions. In all its performances MAKONDEKO GROUP BAND has been doing very successfully.

Makondeko group Band has successfully worked on and collaborated with some of the biggest artist in its life time, just to name a few includes Yvonne Chaka Chaka from South Africa, Kanda Bongo Man from Democratic Republic Of Congo, Tabu Lay and Mbilia Bel, Faya Tess from DRC. All of these live performances on one stage in the late 1995’s .The band has evolved into a highly experienced music band during its life time and this is evidenced by the following past timeline events both in Tanzania and Mozambique.

Some of events are as follows:

1995 - Live performance with Yvonne Chaka Chaka at Kilimanjaro Hotel (Tanzania Room), Makondeko City Inn (Gogo Hotel),
PTA Hall at Sabasaba Grounds, Diamond Jubilee Hall all of these were charity events.
- Mbio za Mwenge at Mbezi louis Kindondoni District in Tanzania.
1996 - Charity event organized by Newala Development Fund held in Newala district in Tanzania.
1997 - Invitation from the FRELIMO Party in Mozambique to perform in massacre memorial ceremony in Mueda district -
Cab Delgado.
1998 - Participation in electoral campaign in Mitema Newala district in Tanzania.
2004 - 2005 - Invitation to performances In Mozambique Pemba Cab Delgado
2015 - Invitation by Mozambique Government for Massacre memorial ceremony performance.
2016 - Invitation for Tourism festival in Mozambique
2017 - Performance in Mbio za Mwenge Newala district in Tanzania.
2019 - Live Perfomance at the Jamafest (Jumuiya ya Africa Mashariki Festival) held at Benjamin Mkapa National
Statdium Dar Es Salaam.
