Mary Njie is a US-based hip hop artist from The Gambia.
Njie's Parents are Gambian with Sierra Leonean descendants- Abdoul Njie (Father) and Fatou Touray (Mother). She is an African American descendant of The Gambia, West Africa. Although born in the US, she spent 5 years in The Gambia where she attended prestigious Marina High School and learned to speak the native languages of Wollof and Mandinka.
She returned to the US in 2010 and was exposed to music at a very early age while her father promoted and worked with renowned African musicians such as Grammy winner Youssou Ndour, Alieu Mbaye Nder, Fallou Dieng, Thione Seck ,Viviane and various other artist most of whom where quick to have her get on stage to dance especially her mentor THIONE BALLAGO SECK who is also father of top Senegalese sensation WALY SECK.
As an aspiring actress, Mary Njie has also appeared as a guest star in the critically acclaimed Series "Maitresse D'un Homme Marie" and look forward to playing major roles in the coming years.
Mary has opened for Grammy Winner Youssou Ndour who together with famous Nigerian sensation Burna Boy just bagged another Grammy in 2021, as well as for the Golden Boy of Senegalese music 'Waly Seck' with her hit song titled 'Believe' encouraging everyone to set their eyes on the Prize and Persevere to reach and achieve their DREAMS.
She attended Shiloh High school in Atlanta and was a member of the Chorus Team which won multiple National Chorus Championships. At Shiloh, she gained valuable singing experience and attended Teen Summer camps to polish her singing skills. At camp, Mary attended workshops by the renowned Singer, Performer and multi Grammy Winner INDIA ARIE. After Graduation, MARY decided to work full time as a musician whilst attending Georgia State University.
Mary's first hit 'Believe', written by Sierra Leonean producer Ibrahim Double T has propelled her as a new artist and made her a household name within the Senegambian diaspora evident by her guest appearances and video broadcasts on almost every media channel including TFM, QTV, Sen TV, 2STv, GRTS solidified with Youtube audiences starting from Senegal, the US, the UK, Gambia, Saudi Arabia, France, Italy, Turkey , Morocco , Nigeria, Ghana and many more...
Now Mary is transforming into the Afrobeat and international music market under her own label and company Mary Music Entertainment Inc and has just released 'Jalloff Rice' reinforcing the SeneGambian laurels of the famous West African dish intensifying the debate about its origin between Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, SeneGambia, Cameroune and many more with her mesmerising piece solidifying CHEBOU JENN PENDA MBAYE as the original JOLLOFF RICE.
She teamed up with former Bracket's renowned Nigerian Guitarist Michael Osadola along with Boss Beats Records in Atlanta to do 'Jalloff Rice', as well as a song with her brother Gymee Blak (born Mansour Njie) called 'I'm in Love'.
