Bio
Megborna is an artist, poet, musician and critical thinker in culturally diverse and relevant context whose practice primarily explores Sounds; Spoken Word Poetry and Music, in capturing narratives and cultural practices through sound sculpture.
Calling his genre, AFRO SPIRITUAL GROOVE, Megborna’s exploration of sounds anthropologically looks at Indigenous African Knowledge Systems, Cultural Expressions, and Spirituality; sounds during fetish practices, chanting, libation, dirges, meditations, incantations, and whispers, to reexamine history and reclaim African Narratives, Cultural Practices, demand Political Accountability and Advocate the Expression of Self.
His exploration of sound looks at occurring sounds within given spaces and time, examining sounds’ role in defining and locating a place, irrespective of time.
Megborna’s practice aims at expanding understanding of the creation of sounds as an integral part of African culture, the Performance of Spirituality, using sounds as a bridge to the World of our Ancestors, Understanding Cosmic Energies and Metaphysical aspects of African Culture.
Megborna has two albums out AGOO - Silver Words, MEGBORNA - The Journey, 14 singles and videos, and an android-supported mobile phone-based game, ALKEBULAN.
He is a graduate of the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
