Mubba
Bio
Mubba (born Humphrey Mbaruku) is a jazz bassist, songwriter and composer from Tanzania.
Since his beginnings, both traditional jazz and African music form an important part of his life. He has been inspired by artists such as Richard Bona, Ettiene Mbape, Marcus Miller, Tatu Nane, Jimmy DluDlu, Jonathan Butler, Hugh Masekela among other greats. Due to these varieties and legendary experience and exposure, his music connects with audiences from different cultures around Africa and other corners of the world as well.
He has played on Sauti za Busara 2024 in Zanzibar
He has performed on bc international jazz festival in Kenya 2024
He has perfomed on Evergreen Jazz festival in Tanzania.
He got a chance to perform at the Tedx event doing two of his original compositions.
He has performed at concerts and featured in collaborations and live recordings of other people as a bass player, entertaining audiences with his special kind of fusion and jazz. Mubba has been a member of Witiri Jazz, Moon Jazz, a fusion jazz band that performed at notable events like Jazz Night, charity events and Alliance Francaise - organized creative events in Arusha and Dar Es Salaam.
Playing live music as a full time occupation for Mubba has seen him appear at festivals around Tanzania like Ongala Festival, Kan Festival, Bagamoyo Festival while featuring in various recordings at numerous studios. He has played with artists and musicians from inside and outside Tanzania namely Paul Clement, Joel Lwaga, Ruby, Mozez Zamangwa , Isabella Novella, Bob Julie, King David, and many others.
In mid 2021 Mubba finished his education in music at Tumaini University, Makumira where he also got a chance to be one of the judges in the UK Talent Train in Arusha.
He has an album called Time which is all over the digital platform
