Soukaina FAHSI
Bio
Soukaina FAHSI is a lyricist, composer and singer from Morocco.
I was born in 1993, in El Jadida, coastal town an hour and a half south of
Casablanca. I have seven siblings and my parents have always loved arts;
and shared this love with us. Harvesting red algae to extract Agar Agar to
earn a living, they introduced us to nature; our surroundings. Through my
link to them, the earth, the ocean and the arts, I met traditional moroccan
music: el Aita with Fatna bent el Houssine and Mergoum, Songs of
Moroccan Jews with Sami Maghribi, el Hassani with Dimi, Meryem Hassan
and, el Malhoun with Houssine Toulaly. I, then, met 60's Reggae with Bob
Marley and Jazz with Nina Simone and Melody Gardot. I also met Blues and
Rock. I write music; world music if I have to name it
