Tarynne Swarts (Pachamama) is a singer, songwriter,producer and instrumentalist from South Africa.
Her music transcends cultural borders and unites cultures in the spirit of Ubuntu. Her music is an eclectic fusion of sonic beats with an Afro-Soul voice and is at the convergence of a Soul, Afro and Latin. In 2015 she recorded her debut album Pachamama in Granada Spain.
Pachamama meaning Earth Mother in Spanish features her original tracks. 'Amanzimtoti' an ode to South Africa's turbulent history, Mbaqanga' is a throwback to 1970's kwela mbaqanga jazz reminiscent of a different time period in South African history. Her single 'Monkey's Wedding' has a digital futuristic sound with pop/ rock influences.
She holds a bachelor of Music degree from Nelson Mandela University and a Masters degree from Kuleuven, Belgium.
