African Jazz Day

Inspired by the spirit of International Jazz Day, which is celebrated annually on April 30th, the Cosmopolitan Collective present the first AFRICAN JAZZ DAY celebrations on May 1st, 2021.
Hosted by the SPIRITED JAZZ CLUB in Mathibestad, Hammanskraal; this event marks the second of the Collective’s Community centred celebrations of Jazz and the distinctly South African practices of appreciation that come with this beloved art form.
Headlining the occasion is the seasoned Mainline Ngobeni and the Badimo Jazz Band, who are a musical family outfit led by trumpet and sax maestro Mainline Ngobeni and wife Mapula. They will be joined with a guest performance from soulful global trumpeter, Prince Lengoasa. Also taking to the stage are the spirited Medumo arts Ensemble along with a spectacular collaboration from regional favourites Maditsi and Matlala. The festivities will be topped off with expressive displays of Diga Dance, and selections of the finest of the jazz form.
In line with all co-vid protocols, limited tickets are available and attendants are expected to adhere to the NO MASK NO ENTRY protocols, all social distancing observed.
