ACCES 2024 to spotlight festivals, touring and collaborations
The Music In Africa Foundation’s (MIAF’s) ACCES 2024 will place a special focus on festivals, touring, and collaboration at the Kigali Convention Centre, in Rwanda on 15 November.
This conference session, titled Festivals, Touring Networks and collaboration: Navigating the African Live Music Circuit, is part of the dynamic ACCES 2024 programme, which will also include a vibrant Showcase Festival, hands-on workshops, industry exhibitions, and ample networking opportunities for participants.
The session will feature notable speakers including British Council arts and culture director Farai Ncube (Zimbabwe), Kenyan artist Muthoni Drummer Queen, Khuzula general director Paulo Chibanga (Mozambique), artist manager Marcus Tawanda Gora (Zimbabwe) and Vth Season founder Benza (South Africa). These industry leaders will provide insights and share their experiences, making this session one of the key highlights of the ACCES 2024 event.
The session will dive into the dynamics of Africa’s vibrant live music scene, exploring both the challenges and the opportunities for growth across the continent. Industry leaders and artists will offer valuable insights into how festivals play a crucial role in showcasing talent and creating visibility for performers. The discussion will also examine the rise of festival circuits, which are providing new platforms for artists to connect with diverse audiences across Africa and beyond.
Additionally, the conversation will emphasise the importance of collaborations within the live music industry, shedding light on how partnerships between artists, promoters, and stakeholders are fuelling creativity and expanding market opportunities. From innovative festival formats to cross-border partnerships, this session will highlight strategies for maximising success and driving the future of live music in Africa.
