Asake triumphs at The Future Awards Africa 2023
Afrobeats singer Asake triumphed in the music category at this year’s edition of The Future Awards Africa, announced from Lagos, Nigeria, at the weekend.
The musician bested fellow Nigerian act Ayra Starr, Cameroon’s Libianca, French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura, and French singer-songwriter of Cameroonian origin Tayc.
Presented by social enterprise The Future Project, the awards honour outstanding feats by young people between the ages of 18 and 31 in different fields.
This year’s awards, the 17th edition ran under the theme, Defying Odds, Inspiring Greatness, and rewarded achievements in 25 categories, including dance, sport, film, entrepreneurship and tech.
