Azgo fest adds more stars to line-up
Azgo Festival is a contemporary celebration of arts and culture in the city of Maputo across two days and nights. The festival celebrates its 5th edition at a new location at University Eduardo Mondlane on 22 and 23 May 2015 with a massive line-up of artists from Mozambique, the region and beyond. Azgo is excited to announce the final line-up of acts, with artists representing jazz, R&B, afro-beat, kwaito, kuduro, trance, hip-hop, folk and much more.
Platinum-selling South African singer Lira will showcase her irresistible blend of R&B and jazz, while Uhuru (South Africa) will bring their infectious mix of Afro-house, kwaito and dance music. According to Lira, “Music changed my world forever - it was the companion and silent warrior that spoke for us when we were not able to.”
Azgo in partnership with Bushfire Festival (Swaziland) and HIFA (Zimbabwe) is excited to present a world first collaboration of Mozambican icon Chico Antonio with Sérgio Pererê (Brazil) and Zal Sissokho (Senegal). Another exciting collaboration will feature charismatic guitarist, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Haja Madagascar, celebrated Congolese bass player Michel Lumana, drummer Stelio Mondlane (Mozambique) and vocalists Spirits Indigenous (Swaziland).
Rising Mozambican star Sérgio Muiambo will sing his songs of love, peace and politics, while local DJs Dilson and Junior will help keep the party going till late. From Angola via Portugal, Azgo boasts Batida, combining samples from old 1970s Angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music, Joana Serrat Trio (Spain) showcasing her original blend of folk, and some bass heavy hip-hop from Australian/Zimbawean trio True Vibenation.
The above acts join the previously announced Mi Casa, Mingas, Tucan Tucan, Claudio Ismael, Liloca, Duas Caras e Trez Agah, Orquestra Djambo, Black Jesus Experience, 123, Floewe and Sweet, Sweet Moon.
'Celebrating Peace and Human Harmony' is the theme of the 5th edition of Azgo. The organisers invite you to join them for two days of the finest music, art and culture from Mozambique, the region and beyond - to celebrate the human spirit, appreciate the arts and work together towards positive change.
