Boomplay unveils Listening Insights feature
Africa-focused music streaming and download service Boomplay has launched a new ‘Listening Insights’ feature aimed at offering users a deeper understanding of their listening habits, music preferences and engagement with their favourite artists.
Boomplay, currently boasting over 70 million monthly active users, a catalogue of over 130 million songs and regional offices in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania, says the innovation forms part of efforts to enhance the user experience on the platform, deepen the connection between fans and their favourite artists and engage more closely with artists.
Listening Insights provides users with an overview of listening duration on the platform and allows them to track their weekly activity. It also highlights users’ top three most-listened-to artists, as well as a Fanbase Ranking feature that lets users see how they rank among other fans of their favourite artists based on their listening data.
Users can access the new feature by logging into the platform and checking their For You page header.
“Instead of waiting until the end of the year to obtain data about your listening habits, users can now have easy and real-time data on the go and share it on social media,” a statement reads.
Before introducing the latest tool, the digital streaming platform released year-end insights called Boomplay Recap. Focused on Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania, it offered a comprehensive overview of music consumption trends, with a particular emphasis on insights from the local music scenes. In recent years, Boomplay data has shown Afrobeats and amapiano as the most popular genres on its app on the continent.
Days ago, Boomplay honoured Ghana’s Black Sherif for becoming the first act from the country to surpass 500 million streams on the platform. The feat brings Black Sherif closer to the Platinum Club, reserved for artists with 1 billion streams, and he will continue to receive both online and offline promotional support in Boomplay’s markets and will be prioritised for his upcoming releases.
