Call for applications: 2021 artist residency in Taiwan
Tsung-Yeh Art and Culture Centre in Tainan, Taiwan, is accepting applications for its 2021 Artists in Residence programme.
The Tsung-Yeh Art and Culture Centre is a governmental institute operated by the Tainan city cultural affairs bureau. Since 2001, it has provided a platform for artists to exchange ideas and exhibit their artworks.
Next year's programme will run under the theme, Site-Specific Art and last between 45 and 90 days.
The available dates for the residencies are:
- 22 February to 23 May 2021.
- 31 May to 31 August 2021.
- 1 September to 30 November 2021.
Applicants exploring the following art forms can apply:
- Performance art.
- Visual art.
- Installation.
- Interdisciplinary contemporary art.
Requirements
Applicants should provide the following:
- Biography.
- A resident plan.
- Letter of recommendation.
The application deadline is 11 September at 23.59pm (GMT+8).
Selected applicants will be required to cater for their travel expenses.
Tsung-Yeh Art and Culture Centre will provide successful applicants with the following:
- Free accommodation and studio space.
- A modest stipend or honorarium of about $1 000 a month.
- A modest project and presentation budget of about $3 400.
- Administration support.
Note:
- All applicants must be able to communicate in either English or Chinese.
- Tsung-Yeh can provide necessary instruments for woodcraft and audio-visual equipment for resident artists (please check with Tsung-Yeh in advance). Provided that there is any specific demand, individuals can prepare your own devices.
- During the residency, the selected applicants should provide one type of presentation, such as an exhibition or a performance. They are welcome to also hold a workshop.
