The call is open to pianists, music composers, visual artists, filmmakers, performers, writers, cartoonists, critics, choreographers, media artists and poets, among others.
Applicants who are interested in becoming an associate artist should first view the Current Residency Schedule and select the mentor they would like to work with. Each mentoring artist determines the requirements and basic structure of their residency.
Mentors may select up to eight associate artists to participate in the three-week programme. Applicants should apply by following the instructions below. Note: ACA no longer accepts application materials via mail, email or fax. An extra administration fee is required if you wish to apply by mail or email.
Additional questions may be answered by visiting Mentoring Artist-in-Residence Programme Details or About the Mentoring Artist-in-Residence Programme.
To apply for a residency, applicants should do the following:
- Visit the current Residency Schedule to review the application requirements and deadline for the Mentoring Artist you want to apply to. Completed applications must be submitted by Midnight EST on the deadline date.
- Prepare the application files for your application submission.
- Visit the submissions site and click on the Submit button for the Mentoring Artist they would like to apply to.
- The next page will require them to sign in with their current submittable account, or to sign up for a new account. Applicants must have an account to apply.
- This page is where they enter the information for their application. At the bottom of the form, applicants should upload the files listed in the Mentoring Artist’s application requirements. The programmes require various documents that can include word documents, images, scores, sound files, or other materials. Some artists also require a document with links to online videos. The submission website does not allow you to edit your files after you complete your submission.
- Enter payment information at the bottom of the page for the application fee ($25).
- Click Submit to complete the application. Applicants should be notified within six weeks of the application deadline as to whether or not they have been accepted.
Note: ACA is offering full scholarships to all accepted artists. All residency fees, room, and board are waived; this does not include travel, transportation, and artist materials.
Eligibility
- Open to all artists (US and international).
- Language requirement: a basic command of the English language is necessary.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time of the residency.
- Overnight guests, spouses, children, and pets are not permitted to stay in housing during the residency. Applicants should let ACA staff know if they have a medical caretaker, a service animal, or other medical needs so that they can have plenty of time to accommodate their needs.
“We are pleased to announce that ACA will provide one full scholarship for each residency to a full-time Florida resident,” ACA said. “This funding is made possible, in part, by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts State Partnership Award and has been matched by the Pabst Steinmetz Foundation.”
All questions should be submitted via email to the residency director Ivan Riascos at iriascos@atlanticcenterforthearts.org.
