Call for applications: Afro-Pepites Show 2017
African Dream is reminding artists to submit their projects for the 2017 edition of the Afro-Pepites Show. Now in its eighth edition, the event was designed to offer artists the opportunity to “speed up their international careers”.
Applications opened on 1 February and will close on 30 September 2017. After the deadline, a jury of industry experts will consider the applications between 1 and 19 October. The jury will announce the successful projects on 20 October. These will then be put to an online vote open to the public until 20 November, with the top three finalists revealed on 5 December.
The project provides an opportunity for artists to make themselves known through the African Dream network. The three selected projects will be able to take advantage from African Dream’s network of industry operators, fans of African culture, social media followers and numerous other partners around the world.
How to enter
To enter at the Afro-Pepites Show, you should register here. Registration is already underway and artists have until the end of September to submit their registration forms, which available in English and French.
Open to who?
The call is open to musicians, dancers, painters, photographers, fashion designers, sculptors, storytellers, poets, directors of short movies and actors from Africa, the Caribbean, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, etc. and to all artists inspired by Africa.
Terms and conditions
- African and South American artists can apply for free. Free application is not granted any more to the artists based in Europe, Asia and North America.
- Artists should include the following in their applications: contact details, one link to a picture, a link to listen or discover your project, and a biography.
- Artists who do not have a website should share their creations on SoundCloud, Reverbnation and YouTube.
According to the African Dream website, artists who participate at the event will get media awareness via the show’s social media platforms, radio and TV. Each year, the African Dream engages artists via the Internet to promote African culture. The event aims to unite Africa to the world by using the power of the Internet.
African Dream is a platform via which artists from around the world can showcase their work online. It aims to appeal to artists, producers, managers, distributors and promoters working in the field of African culture as well as internet users who are curious to learn more about African arts and culture.
