Call for applications: Arab world grants for artists and writers
Culture Resource, a non-profit organisation that supports artistic creativity in the Arab world, is accepting applications from artists and writers in the Arab region who are involved in the production of individual or collaborative artistic or literary projects.
Culture Resource offers artists and writers grants of up to $7 000 for individual projects and $10 000 for collaborative projects, thereby enabling the grantees to:
- Sustain their individual or collaborative creativity.
- Enhance their skills and those of the technicians they work with.
- Preserve artistic life and creativity during the COVID-10 pandemic and the subsequent period.
- Conceive and develop new approaches to individual and collective creativity, thereby laying a fresh cultural and artistic groundwork for the post-crisis period.
Applicants should note:
- The grant covers a period of six to nine months.
- An additional $1 000 may be available for projects that include a skills development component for the applicant artists or fellow artists and/or technicians in their team.
- The proposed artistic/literary project must be new and not previously published or displayed.
- The applicant may not have a currently open grant from Culture Resource.
Eligibility
The grant targets:
- Applicants must be artists or writers from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
- Groups and individuals.
- Artists from all disciplines: music, performing arts, visual artists, music, cinema and literature.
How to Apply
- Fill in the application form with all the required information in Arabic, apart from the blanks that should be filled in English.
- Submit all supporting documents mentioned in the application as attachments along with the application form.
- Email the form with the supporting documents to exceptionalgrants@mawred.org.
The application deadline is 3 July at 4pm Beirut time.
Successful applicants will be notified on 30 July.
