Call for applications: Ettijahat Laboratory of Arts programme
Independent cultural organisation Ettijahat, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Syria, is accepting applications for its Laboratory of Arts programme.
Ettijahat was launched in 2011and "seeks to play a pivotal role in building a Syrian culture that is dynamic, democratic and diverse, taking into account the challenges experienced by Syrian society, through creating sustainable opportunities for artists, researchers and cultural operators, and enhancing the environment and forms of cultural expression, in addition to integrating creative work with social change."
The Laboratory of Arts programme was launched in 2016 to support creative practices, enhance artistic expressions and provide opportunities for independent creators in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and Turkey, in addition to diaspora countries in Europe.
Selected applicants will each receive $10 000 and support to make their productions available in the Arab region and Europe.
The programme supports all creative fields in the following categories:
- Music.
- Cinema and animation.
- Theatre, dance and performing arts.
- Creative writing.
- Visual arts, including plastic arts, art supplies, and visual and graphic design projects.
Who can apply?
- Artists under the age of 40.
- Initiatives, institutions and technical groups.
Applicants should note:
- The programme does not support training projects and workshops that do not end with a technical product.
- The work done in advance will not be considered.
- Grant recipients have full rights to the art product while maintaining the mention of the organisations involved in the Laboratory of Arts programme.
- Ettijahat and Goethe-Institut have the right to publish and use portions of the product during and after the implementation of the art projects.
Requirements
Applicants should submit the following:
- A copy of the identity card.
- Samples of previous works and the project to be supported.
- A budget.
- A time plan, which should include the quality and technical objectives of the technical proposal, vision and technical motivations of the project owner, and the extent of the project’s viability.

The application deadline is 15 June Beirut time. Successful applicants will be notified on 25 August.
