Call for applications: Hallstatt AIR residency in Austria
Austrian cultural association Dezentral is accepting applications for its Hallstatt AIR residency programme to be held from 19 April to 20 May in Salzkammergut, Salzburg, Austria.
Dezentral will award five working scholarships to national and international guest artists and one Japanese exchange artist will be invited to Austria. The residency will last for five months and each resident will receive €1 300 (about $1 600). Dezentral will provide residents with accommodation, workplaces, and equipment, if necessary. The institution will refund travel costs up to a maximum of €300.
“Due to the interdisciplinary orientation of the artists invited for one month, the work shown will have a festival-like character,” Dezentral said. “A two-week exhibition will follow this in organised temporary spaces in the municipality of Hallstatt. Furthermore, the artists will be supported during the production phase, and the results will be publicised using extensive public relations work.”
The programme’s essential concern is the experimental exchange of the invited artists with each other and with Hallstatt. This includes interventions with the local audience, as well as with cultural institutions and initiatives. Regional discursive themes are to be artistically taken up in ‘field studies’, thus opening new perspectives and dialogues.
