Call for applications: Kampala Art Biennale apprenticeship
The fourth edition of Kampala Art Biennale (KAB) is accepting applications from young artists worldwide for an opportunity to participate in the event’s programme.
KAB was founded in 2014 and hosts masters in various fields to set up studios for 20 days in Uganda's capital. The selected artists will apprentice with the masters according to their skill and relation to a master’s practice during their open studio time from 1 to 20 August 2020.
The 2020 edition is themed, Get Up, Stand Up! "Bob Marley’s song 'Get Up, Stand Up' was a call for action. An action to free our bodies and souls," KAB founder Simon Njami said. "The context was that of a human revolution where one should not give up the fight.
"Today, the question of freedom takes another turn; political, of course, but also economical and intellectual. How can we envision freedom in a globalised world? Art is not the only answer but it is certainly a field that allows experimentation and risks taking."
