Call for applications: Marafiki Festival 2022 in Tanzania
The organisers of Marafiki Festival are accepting applications from performing artists for the 2022 edition in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 6 to 9 October 2022.
Launched in 2020, the annual event seeks to discover new talent and expand Tanzania's scene by promoting African musicians playing live music. The 2021 edition of the festival was held on 7 to 9 October with performances from Sinaubi Zawose, TaraJazz, Witiri Tz, Zan Ubuntu, Tofa Boy, Stone Town Rockerz, Kudra Mazongela, Justine Kaozya and Bahati Female Band. Others were Nasibo Mutize, Balaa Mc, Dabo Mtanzania, Iju Music, Voice of Revolution, Ziad Daroueche and Akoth Jumadi.
Apart from performances, the festival’s programme also includes music industry discussions and workshops.

- Music links on SoundCloud.
- Technical rider.
How to apply
Applications are open to all artists playing live music. To apply, interested candidates can send all the requirements to wekamusicrecords@gmail.com.
Marafiki Festival will provide the following to selected artists:
- Accommodation.
- Per diem.
- Performance fee.
- Radio and TV interviews.
- Venue for showcases.
- Equipment for performances.
- All local travel related to the show.
Bands that are not based in Tanzania will be required to take care of their own travel costs. Marafiki Festival will supply a letter to assist in securing mobility funding at the request of the applicant.
