Call for applications: MASA 2020

Launched in Abidjan in 1993, the event is a cultural development programme dedicated to the African performing arts sector. It consists of a market, festival and forum for performing arts professionals to network and discuss their work.

In addition to these activities, training programmes have been developed and are linked to the development of the performing arts disciplines. A total of 2 000 professionals are expected to participate in 2020.

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2019 (midnight CAT). A list of successful applicants will be available on 30 September 2019.   

How to apply

MASA 2020 applicants must send a number of documents to be eligible for selection. A PDF document is attached below as an example of what applications should look like. The full call is also attached below.

Your application must have the following:

• A letter to the MASA director.
• A picture of an on-stage performance.
• A video of an on-stage performance (teasers and video clips are not accepted).
• A list of artistic works of the last three years or a press book.

Forms must show:

• The departure city of the members of the group.
• The name of each group member (date of birth and role in the group).
• The name for the manager of the group for music and the administrator of the group for the remaining categories.
• The composer, the producer and the choreographer.

Description of the performance showing:

• The date of its creation.
• The theme.
• The approach.
• A summary of the story for storytelling, stand-up comedy, dance, theatre and the lyrics of the songs for music.

Technical sheet describing:

• Stage dimensions.
• Lighting, sound and technical assistant information.
• The set-up and take-down time of the performance.
• The weight and size of accessories.
