Call for applications: MTN MegaStar South Africa
Telecoms company MTN is calling on singers to participate in the MTN MegaStar competition, a digital music reality show that will be streamed online. Hopefuls will battle for a record deal with Temple Records and work with US Producer, rapper and singer Mike Will.
The competition takes place exclusively on MTN Play and will be judged by South African hip hop artists KO, Kwesta, Nomuzi and Tbo Touch, who partnered with MTN for the launch of the series. It will be hosted by radio presenter Katlego Mohoaduba.
Individuals who wish to enter the contest must be South African citizens and 18 years or older. To participate in the show, entrants are required to:

Go to MTN Play or download the MegaStar app on Google Play,

register and complete their profile,

upload a video and preview what has been submitted (the video that will only be available to the judges).
Auditions will take place online as well as at selected venues across South Africa. Those who apply online will be granted the opportunity to skip the audition queue in the following venues:

Viewing MTN MegaStar requires a daily subscription fee of R2 (15 US cents). The eight-minute episodes will be available every Wednesday and Sunday. Subscribers will be able to view old episodes, behind the scenes footage and interviews with the judges and contestants.
The contestants will be allocated tasks and required to perform, after which elimination will take place weekly based on a public voting system. The top 10, who will be housed in Steyn City, will interact with the judges who will score them on musical talent as well as commitment and hard work. The winner of the grand prize will be determined by subscribers when they SMS their favourite contestant's name to 40636 at R1 per SMS.
