Call for applications: Revenue Streams for African Musicians workshop in Johannesburg
As part of the Revenue Streams for African Musicians (RSFAM) project, the Music In Africa Foundation is inviting all practising musicians based in the Johannesburg area to attend a two-day workshop at Goethe-Institut in Parkwood on 13 and 14 April 2022.
Launched in 2021, the RSFAM project is a multifaceted initiative aiming to empower South African music professionals with information and tools to earn more income from their works. The project mobilised field researchers in all nine provinces to conduct interviews with nearly 3 000 musicians. Industry insights will be made available in an open-access report, and workshops will be hosted across the country.
Music industry experts will provide training in the key focus areas identified in the study:
- Understanding music rights and optimising earnings from royalties.
- Brand-related revenue: Maximising your income through digital platforms.
The workshop is free of charge but is limited to 50 seats.
Register now by filling out this form.
Registration is ongoing. An information pack will be communicated to selected participants.
The Johannesburg workshop will follow a similar session held at the Bridges for Music campus in Langa, Cape Town, on 3 and 4 March.
Not based in Johannesburg? Workshops will also be held in Durban and Polokwane. Please visit our website and social media pages to register for a workshop in your city.
Please direct all queries to projects officer Ms Jannike Bergh at jannike@musicinafrica.net.
The Music In Africa Revenue Streams for African Musicians project is supported by UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity in the framework of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, the Siemens Cents4Sense programme, Goethe-Institut, the National Arts Council of South Africa and Kaya FM.
