Call for applications: School choirs in South Africa
Supermarket chain Checkers is calling on South African school choirs to learn the Checkers Little Garden song and get creative with their performance.
Schools that believe their choirs are among the best in the country should submit their entries via Facebook by tagging Checkers SA and using the hashtag #CheckersLittleGarden.
Interested participants can alternatively submit their entries to competitions@shoprite.co.za or upload their video via the Checkers Little Garden official website.
The deadline for entries is 20 May.
Competitors stand a chance of winning their share of R60 000 ($5 000). The winning school will walk away with R30 000. Schools in second and third place will receive R20 000 and R10 000 respectively.
“Show us your creative flair by using unique instruments like drums, sticks, gumboots and even your hands to make this your best choir performance yet,” reads the Checkers website.
Choirs must learn the Checkers Little Garden song and film a performance of the song. Members of the public will then get the opportunity to vote for their favourite school choir on 3 June.
