Call for applications: Virtual residency for artists
Emptyroom.art, an international creative hub and open art space based in Maputo, Mozambique, is accepting applications for its virtual residency.
The residency is for artists and creatives across different art disciplines and countries. There is no age restriction.
Successful applicants will be featured on Emptyroom.art's Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages, where they will share their inspirations, techniques, processes, ideas and work-in-progress projects with the creative community. New projects will be uploaded every Monday at 18.30pm (GMT+2).
Emptyroom.art hopes that the residency will connect and encourage collaborations between creatives across the continent and around the world.
"When COVID-19 prevention measures were first instated in Mozambique, we felt quite abruptly the disconnection from other artists, art spaces and the community at large," Emptyroom.art co-founder Tina Krüger told Music In Africa. "Our idea is to continue the virtual residencies indefinitely. The feedback we are receiving has been so positive, so all are welcome to participate. As soon as COVID-19 restrictions are softened, we will also go back to organising physical residencies in the Emptyroom.art space in Maputo, with a special focus on interdisciplinary collaborations, which is one main aspect we are really passionate about and want to encourage more."
The application process is on an ongoing basis.
