Call for auditions: Mombasa leg of Twaweza Live Kenya

The audition will take place at Pride Inn Hotel Shanzu between 9am and 3pm.

The judges will be looking for talented musicians, DJs and hype masters. The winners will get a chance to perform at the main concert slated for Mombasa Sports Club on 28 July. They will also get an opportunity to record a collaboration with established artists at producer Eric Musyoka’s studio. 

The Twaweza Live is on a national tour that has already made stops in Eldoret and Meru. The concert tour has attracted large crowds, with the Meru edition recording about 12 000 in attendance. 

The seven-month campaign, which was launched on 7 May, seeks to engage communities through free medical camps, campus takeovers, device offers, talent search activities, youth mentorship programmes and concerts.

Beyond showcasing headliners, the tour has given substantial opportunities to upcoming artists in far-flung Kenyan towns and cities. The previous auditions were televised live nationally and in the process gave exposure to upcoming talent. Outstanding acts have also been featured in various print and online publications.

In addition to performing with the big stars, the winners of the auditions also get to shadow the headliners as they prepare for the show, which many of them say has proven extremely beneficial.

Applicants will be required to present their national identity card to participate in the Mombasa audition.
