Call for entries: 2019 Ngoma Awards Zambia
The National Arts Council of Zambia is calling on artists to submit entries for 2019 edition of the Ngoma Awards, which take place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on 7 December.
The council will recognise works or productions entered for the period October 2018 to October 2019.
Interested artists can download the entry form here. The submission deadline is 11 October.
“The Ngoma Awards are proudly a Zambian brand designed to recognise, honour, motivate and celebrate the Zambian artists and artistic works in all art forms countrywide,” National Arts Council of Zambia chairperson Patrick Samwimbila said.
“In fulfilling its mandate to promote, regulate, and develop the arts, the National Arts Council of Zambia organises the Ngoma as the only national artistic honours and awards. The awards were successfully hosted for 14 years up until the year 2012 when the last Ngoma was held.
“As the council celebrates the silver anniversary and the 2019 Year of the Arts, it was inevitable to relaunch the a wards in order to continue fulfilling all the functions for which the council was established. The return of the awards is surely an emotional and exciting experience hence the introduction of the guidelines, criteria and procedures to enhance the credibility, consistency and professionalism in the conduct of the awards.”
