Call for entries: 2020 Kids With Talent SA music competition
Kids With Talent SA (KWTSA) is calling on pupils aged between six and 18 years to submit entries for its music competition in Gauteng province, South Africa.
The competition seeks to showcase the musical talents of South African children and to give them a chance to feel like stars. The competition consists of three legs: regionals, finals and the grand finale. The prize pool is worth R100 000.
Participants can submit their entries here.
“We provide children the opportunity to perform in a professional and positive environment,” KWTSA said. “We offer two different platforms for children to participate in: the Experience and the Competition.”
The Experience, KWTSA says, is a non-competitive leg for novice performers, kids who are a little nervous to perform in front of judges, and kids who would like to gain some more stage experience.
Participants may enter in both the Experience and the Competition. This year, KWTSA is launching a new category for group items, consisting of three to six kids per group. With each competition entry, each child needs to prepare two performances of two different songs.
Rules
- The Experience and Competition are open to kids turning six and 18 this year.
- If you are turning 19 this year, you would be too old to participate.
- Kids may perform using any musical instrument, including vocals, in any musical style/genre.
- There is also a duet category, where any combination of instruments/vocals may pair up to participate.
- The time limit for each performance is 100 seconds.
- For the Experience, kids need to prepare one item of up to two-and-a-half minutes.
- Groups must prepare a programme of five to nine minutes. As soon as the performer starts singing, talking or playing their instrument, the timer starts running.
- The events will take place in the second and third terms of the year (according to the public school calendar). The finals will take place in October.
- KWTSA host events on Fridays and Saturdays at private schools’ auditoriums, across Gauteng. Participants that reside further than 50km from one of our event locations, may enter via a video clip.
