Call for entries: Pearl of Africa Star Search in Uganda
Aspiring musicians in Uganda can now submit entries for Pearl of Africa Star Search.
The nationwide competition is a new initiative looking to promote upcoming talent in Uganda. Participants stand a chance to win a grand prize worth 60 million Ugandan shillings ($17 000), which includes:
- A cash prize.
- Recording contract.
- Music videos.
- Talent management.
- Collaborations.
- Marketing.
- Flights.
- Tourism trips.
Musicians Navio, Cindy Sanyu and Joanita Kawalya, as well as travel journalist and actor Moses Amumpaire, have been named judges and mentors.
The winner will get the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with international acts.
- Showcase and develop their talent on a national platform.
- Promote Uganda as the preferred tourism destination.

Interested musicians can submit a one-minute video singing to any song of their choice here or share the video via WhatsApp on +256 777 564 997.
Important dates
- Submission deadline – 9 May.
- 10 to 13 May – Submissions to be reviewed by a panel of industry experts who will select the top 40 entrants.
- 14 to 22 May – Voting opens for the 16 qualifiers through the website.
- 23 May – The top 16 with the most votes announced.
- 25 May to 15 June – Four regional music retreats and tourism challenges to determine the top 12.
- 17 to 25 June – Bootcamp.
- 26 June to 17 July – Elimination shows.
