Call for entries: Record in a BIG Johannesburg studio

Downtown ran the call via its website requesting all musicians who want to give their music the “Big Studio” treatment to enter.

“Got a song in your head and nowhere to record it? Been panel-beating a track to death in your home studio but it’s still not sounding right? Lost all perspective on your latest mix? Well, we’ve got a treat in store for you,” the call reads.

To participate in the competition, click here. The link will request you to register using your email address, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, as well as answer a few simple questions to improve your chances of winning. Upon registering, you will automatically earn one entry to the competition.

To earn more entries, the competition will further request you to complete the following tasks:

• Follow Downtown Studios on Twitter – 1 entry
• Tweet on Twitter – 1 entry
• Question: What's the best reason for recording your next project in a BIG studio? – 1 entry
• Photo choice: Choose your favourite studio? – 1 entry
• Select a photo from your Instagram feed – 3 entries
• Give us the ‘title’ or ‘topic’ for a music-related workshop you would most like to attend here at the hub? – 1 entry
• Refer friends – 5 entries

Downtown is one of the oldest surviving recording studios in Johannesburg. The hub is an open forum for all music entrepreneurs to explore their craft and connect with their peers. Apart from recording music, Downtown is now a platform for workshops and industry events.
