Call for proposals: Atlantic Music Expo in Cabo Verde

AME is a platform for presenting music and initiating discussions relevant to Cabo Verde, Africa, the U.S and other countries.

The initiative is an opportunity for artists, musicians, speakers, and music professionals to be part of next year's programme. Interested applicants should send their proposals for an international showcase, Cabo Verdean showcase or a conference session.

According to the AME website, “Traditional, classical, modern, popular or electronic bands and DJs are welcome to apply to perform a showcase at AME 2017.”

It further reads: “Alongside a line-up of local Cape Verdean artists, applications from artists from Africa and all sides of the Atlantic will be considered with particular attention.”

AME Cabo Verde does not cover international travels. It, however, provides accommodation, per diems, stage and necessary equipment to perform, local transportation and extensive promotional treatment on equal basis for selected artists.

If you wish to apply to showcase at AME 2017, complete the online application form here before 30 October. For artists from Cabo Verde, the application deadline is Friday 30 December 2016.

It has become a powerful think tank around topics such as the role of culture in development, advocacy for the African music sector, reinforcing transatlantic music exchanges, and more.

One of the best music industry conferences in Africa, AME is part of the World Music Expo (WOMEX), a leading platform for global music. This year, AME welcomed 750 participants from 37 countries.

The event is held before the popular Kriol Jazz Festival and features concerts, conferences, workshops and an open-air trade fair held in Praça Alexandre Albuquerque.
