Call for registration: AFRIMAs Africa Music Business Summit 2021
The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs) are inviting interested participants to register for the 2021 Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS), which will take place at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria, on 19 November.
The conference will run under the theme, Monetising Music in Africa, and forms part of AFRIMAs’ activities for 2021.
The summit is expected to draw music professionals and policymakers from across the continent, who will discuss various areas of the music business, including building a following as an artist, how the industry is going digital, as well as modern technologies and challenges in the industry.
Afropop heavyweight D’banj has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s AMBS. A leading name in Africa’s music circles, D’banj is best known for his various hit songs. The musician is also a lawyer, entrepreneur and activist. Months ago, the ‘Oliver Twist’ singer was announced as brand ambassador for Nigeria’s National Social Investment Programme and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank.
“Music has become one of the most popular ways to earn a living for people around the globe and in Africa,” the organisers said. ‘Whether it is a full-time job or a lucrative side-gig, selling music remains a creative way to make money and AFRIMA will be showing just how to do that at the AMBS 2021.”
The 2021 AMBS will take place from 9am to 2.30pm WAT.
Interested participants can register for the event here.
The 2021 AFRIMAs will take place from 19 to 21 November. Now in its eighth edition, the awards ceremony is overseen by an international committee and the African Union Commission (AUC). The ceremony honours African artists and other creative professionals on the continent and in the diaspora. Last year, the awards ceremony was suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
