Call for registrations: Amapiano Conference 2021

The event is courtesy of local stations Pieces Africa and Drums Radio as well as creative company Kreative Kornerr. It seeks to establish the custodians of amapiano while providing insight into the undeniable growth of the genre.

The conference will feature panels that will be split into four sessions, including South African Growth & History, Pan-African Growth of Amapiano, International Influences & How Artists Abroad Hope to Take On Amapiano and Events Focused Session: Globally.

Featured panellists include artists Musa Keys (SA), Kool Drink (SA), Aymos (SA), Phodii (SA), DJ Kwamzy (Ghana), Juls Baby (Ghana), Mr Silky (UK/Guyana), Love Mavunga (Zim), OneDown (Kenya), Polo Soleri (Uganda/UK) and Wallizz (Germany) as well as industry professionals Wiseman Ngubo (CAPASSO), Gugu (Africori), Kai (Kreative Kornerr), Madzadza (OkayAfrica), George Beke (A&R specialist) and Donaldo Barbosa (Pieces Africa), and journalists Afua Mfodwo and Shiba Melissa Mazaza.

“We believe that the Amapiano Conference will serve as a massive networking and growth portal, as well as a link between brands, notable and upcoming musicians, music and record label execs, music listeners, A&R managers, artist managers, event curators, documenters of culture, music curators, music journalists and other contributors to the African music industry as a whole,” a joint statement reads.
