Call for registrations: Mixing and mastering workshop in Ghana

Now in its second year, the intensive audio mixing and mastering workshop is open to emerging and established sound engineers, as well as artists and other music professionals.

Facilitated by renowned Ghanaian music producer and sound engineer Awal ‘Possigee’ Alhassan, the workshop will bring together Ghanaian producers including Ubeatz, C-Tea Beatz, Tubhani Music, MOG Beatz and ‘Ameno’ hitmaker Nektunez. They will be joined by Ransombeatz (Nigeria) and Paul Cruz (Zambia). 

“The government and leaders of our art and creative sector have contributed less to upsurge the music industry which could increase foreign direct investments in the country,” Possigee’s website reads.

 “It is in this context that Possigee has devoted himself to help augment the sound engineering situation in Ghana by impacting the tacit knowledge and experience acquired in sound engineering to the young people of today.”

Speaking to Music In Africa, Possigee, who is known for working with Sarkodie, Wizkid, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Fuse ODG, among other big names, said the vision of the initiative was to break down the art of mixing and mastering, and explore how participants could harness various opportunities in the music scene. 

Possigee said the masterclass formed part of efforts to change the narrative of the Ghanaian music landscape by facilitating a culture of knowledge sharing among producers and engineers.

“Most Ghanaians find it difficult to teach what they have learnt. Others leave the world with all the knowledge they have without imparting it to the next generation. This initiative seeks to correct that,” he said.
