Call for scores: Solo double bass composers
Tesselat is calling on composers around the world to submit scores for solo double bass.
Founded in 2018, Tesselat, an international composer collective with members from Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, aims to collaborate with local musicians and composers throughout the world and to deliver quality new music to a diverse audience.
The call is open to all composers. Selected composers will receive a performance of their work by US bassist Will Yager during an online concert in May. The composer will also receive a high-quality recording of the performance.
Guidelines
- All composers are eligible regardless of age, sex, colour, creed, sexual orientation, nationality, marital status, disability, or veteran status. The selection will be made using a blind evaluation process.
- Composers may submit up to two scores. The works may have been performed in the past, but they must not have been published.
- Works must be for solo double bass.
- Electronics are not permitted.
- Works should not exceed five minutes.
- Works must have been written after 2013.
- Tesselat retains the right to not select a winner.
Application process
- Submission is free and interested composers should submit their scores in PDF and other material at info@tesselat.com.
- The submission deadline is 31 March.
- All materials received after the date will be disqualified.
- One or two PDF scores of solo double bass works, under five minutes.
- One PDF file containing a brief biography (300 words or less), telephone number, email and programme notes.
- A recording in MP3 format is encouraged but not necessary.
“Tesselat is committed to the organisation, promotion and production of new music concerts around the world, with each concert performed by a renowned local ensemble or musician,” the collective said. “Our call for scores is intended for us to engage with the young, emerging composers of the concert region.”
